Digital Mind

My hopes you’ll see the man in me
I’m built of flesh, well’ use to be
I’m feeling lost without emotion
but even steel has it’s corrosion

The life once lived, I needed that
My only shield from planned attack
The use to be would now react
to things in life I surely lacked

I needed love but more the space
I’d form a place no one could trace
A digital mind without a face
has rusted away, has gone a waste.

Some grey images will not fade

a kid girl running nude with fear
captured in a frame terror of napalm bomb
photograph that  saw the end of a war

a two-year-old  washed ashore
after drowning in the sea
fleeing  from the mother country

of a dry-eyed mother
with a bundle  wrapped tight in white cloth
body of dead son fleeing from a war

older than you’ll ever be

child of the ground
you crawled out from the earth
clutching at handfuls of dirt
scattered ashes in swollen soil

you returned too young
beneath your burial blanket
eyes covered by invisible fingers
you didn’t deserve the dark

I will remember to leave the light on for you

Mother

Your daughters carry you with them
until their spines are twisted.
Even then they refuse to put you down.
It makes no sense for a handful of ashes
to be so heavy.
In my dreams I am still learning to walk,
you are taking me by the hand.
I will spend your fiftieth birthday
wearing black, lighting candles
for a face that blurs and distorts.

For My Niece

I’ll part oceans like curtains for you.
Drain them for a space to play.
Listen with an open mind.
Guard you like an armoured soldier.
Your grin is a solar eclipse,
your musical giggle fills rooms.
That incandescent spark of yours,
ignite it with lighter or match.
That it might spread to wildfire.

Share your warmth with the world.

Hopes For Pain

I’d wish to see your wrinkled smile
Just one more time
I know it’s been a little while
Only expected sunshine

I’d wish to be injured
From dancing in the rain
And the only real cure
Is digging deep into that pain

The love you give
Are passed on through generations
Makes me not want to live
With this dying sensation

The bullet that held your mouth together
You handed it straight to me
But the only question determines whether
It’ll help me breathe

this crying won’t save you

Oh! She cries so
violently the
Walls shake off
their paint like a
wet dog.

What can
A child does when
she carries such
pain against her
spine?
What can she do,
But cry?

O’ Sweet
Angel,
save those tears
for times
to come,

For you are yet
to understand
the horrors
of the world.

That thumping
against your ribs
will one day shatter them,
And then what will you do?

My darling
girl,
tears are not
infinite!
You will
dry yourself out
from the inside!

Love’s Mistakes

The bridge where I am standing is crumbling to fall
I’ve been calling the angels but none has heeded my call
There is fire, and there is brimstone I am needing a ford
as this bridge keeps on falling, I keep calling my Lord

For Satan’s just a step away, and my feet are starting to burn
My life is flashing before my eyes and I am starting to yearn
For simpler days and simpler nights that once were my life
Before I stepped onto this bridge of love and became your sacrifice

Now my knees cannot save me, and prayers are a waste of time
As I dwell in the house of Satan since you said you’d be mine
Now all I had you took from me, and now I don’t suffice
and that fire of hell gets closer since you became my vice

Now Satan’s just a step away and my feet are starting to burn
My life is flashing before my eyes, and I’m starting to yearn
For simpler days and simpler nights that once were my life
Until I stepped onto this bridge love and became your sacrifice
